Ivey aeo acceptance 2019

I am a non-aeo student at western university, currently waiting to hear back from Ivey for their HBA program. For those who have been accepted or have gone through the process, how competitive is an Any insights would be appreciated. I believe there is another round still coming out. ECs look good but average is bit on the lower side.

I'm hearing However, applicants with lower averages than you are getting in as well. I would stay optimistic. BrickSquadMonopoly" I think you and me are in the same predicament. I finished business in the very high 80's, with a perfect participation evaluation from my prof. With a top 6 ave. The highest admission averages are schulich, ivey then queens and lastly rotman. Same goes for ivey but I think they take more people with 89s and I say that because I got in the 2nd round of schulich but the 1st round of ivey. For Queens and Ivey it's going to come down to your ECs and essays. That being said your marks are lower than average. He's always dishing negative advice on anything related to business undergrad programs in an attempt to boost his self-esteem.

Ivey is the hardest program to get into handsdown. But if you choose Ivey, you better be confident you'll do well in the first two years of university. Because you do general courses, then apply for Ivey. So there is a con to taking a chance here. I didn't choose Ivey because I was risk adverse.

I wanted to enjoy my university life, plus if I didn't get into Ivey, I may be screwed academically for future employment. I'm jealous now then! Worked out to much more than a scholarship, lol. Graduated with no student debt. Getting AEO is not the hard part, meeting the requirements are. Congrats to the Winners!Remember me on this computer Sign in. View our Cookie Policy. Forget lectures: the entire Ivey MBA is taught via cases which the school creates itself — it is the second-biggest writer of cases, after Harvard Business School.

The second thing that makes Ivey different is that its full-time MBA is short for North America, lasting just 12 months — a timeframe far more popular in Europe. Obviously, that means that certain elements present on other MBAs are dropped; study trips to China or South America are optional, and there is no internship. The short duration helps a lot with ROI, though. The result is a super-efficient and very job-centered MBA experience. Recruiters get involved right from the admissions process, ensuring that Ivey only selects students that it is sure it can help find a job in the short time available.

The careers service is helped by a helpful and supportive alumni network consisting of 25, people in over countries. The system works.

I chose Ivey for three reasons. One, it was number one in Canada at the time I was applying. I knew I wanted to stay in Canada, so I knew that it would help me get into the big consulting firms where I wanted to go. It worked: I now work for Deloitte. Two, the network. Over 30 people, from senior managers to partners, gave me valuable feedback that helped me land my post-MBA job.Are you interested in applying to the Ivey Program at Western?

What about Queen's Commerce? Are you wondering what marks are required? What about extra curricular activities? Need advice on how to get through the supplementaries? Well one of my online students from last year, Prajeya, got in to both! He started watching my calculus and vectors videos in 2nd semester and we've been in touch since.

He ended up choosing the Ivey program. I put him through a questionnaire below to describe his grade 12 year. Though admission criteria is always changing, and nothing is guaranteed, we're hoping that his answers will provide you with some inspiration and a good idea of where to aim!

Prajeya is also a great example of the potential for improvement in marks from grade 11 to grade As you can see below, he didn't have a single course in the 90s in grade In grade 12, his top 6 courses had an average of above Even his marks within grade 12 improved substantially.

For example, from advanced functions 75 to calculus He's a great example of where the past doesn't have to dictate the future! Anyways, I'll let him take it away below!

What were your marks in all of your grade 11 and 12 courses? What subject s are you best at? Weakest at? Was it always like this?Join him tomorrow at 3pm ET as he answers questions about his career goals. Check out our directory of virtual campus tours we know about right now.

I also know that I'm a little bit late posting this since admissions are more or less done for this year but I've gotten in everywhere so I thought I would make this post. I know there are plenty of other good Canadian B schools such as Mcgill and Sauder to name a few, but I won't be covering them in this post.

I have a lot of ECs but the quality for some was lacking. For the leadership profile, they ask for learning outcomes, so provide a variety of different things you've learned from a variety of different activities. Dress nice, of course, be casual, and be yourself. The questions are personal and easy to answer if you relax.

Then there's a timed 5 mins opinion-based question at the end, which is also easy to answer. Except I panicked because there was only 5 minutes, and wrote a half-ass answer with a typo. I still got in, so don't fret over the small mistakes. I'd say Rotman is around the same competitiveness as Schulich, but their grade requirement is significantly looser.

The first question will ask you to talk about one of your accomplishments, so fill this out beforehand. The other timed essay question will give you 30 minutes to respond, and will most likely be about either your leadership skills, business, or both together. There is no place to list any of your ECs, so if you can try to squeeze them into your essay responses. There is only one video question, and it is a personal question. Again, be yourself, relax, and appear poised and confident.

Practice beforehand because for the real thing you only get 2 minutes to prepare and 2 minutes to talk, and only one shot at it. If it allows, maybe demonstrate some interest for Rotman in your video response for example, I was asked where I saw myself in the future, I should have talked about how Rotman would help me accomplish those goals but didn't.

Queen's Commerce v. Western Ivey HBA

Anyways, getting into Rotman isn't the hard part The main part of your Ivey AEO is your three essays on your extra-curricular activities. For your three essays, I highly recommend you choose the three you've done the most for, and NOT the three you think the admissions officers would like the most. After all, you have words, so you've got to go in some detail. Sprinkle on some awards, jobs, and additional activities, but the most important part is your three essays.

People have gotten accepted with just those three essays. They give you a list of qualities they look for in applicants leadership, achievement, breadth, commitment, initiative etc. I did not like my Ivey essays at all. They were very basic, straight to the point. Therefore, for Queen's, I took a risk. I didn't write about things I thought everyone would write about eg. President of DECA
